Numerous incidents of environmental abuse confirmed the lack of will to protect Bali land. “Ironically the initiators of environmental abuse polemic are often the bureaucrats who tend to recommend licenses too easily”, an observer said. Delay in completion of new land allocation zoning regulation and other regulations related to investment on land of Bali will make the situation even worse.
He reminded the Provincial Government of Bali to immediately take real actions to protect land of Bali. Head of monitoring body of river stream area of Bali and Nusa Penida, Nyoman Ray Yusha expressed his concern about changing land structure in Bali. Decreasing water preservation area and problem in getting fresh water will become a sharpening phenomena in the years to come. The prediction was based on pollution of rivers in Bali.
Publicised report mentioned that at least 10 largest rivers in Bali are polluted including Tukad Badung, Tukad Tebe, Tukad Pakerisan, Tukad Sungsang, and Tukad Nyuling. Rivers are loosing one thousand liters per second of water stream, whilst lakes are facing decrease between one to fifteen meters of dept per year.
Other revealed indicators on degradation of Bali environment is soaring production of rubbish. In average every person in Bali produced between two to three kilograms of rubbish per day. Without proper immediate anticipation it will bring enormous environmental impacts.
