July 2005: BTB Will Hold Its 1st Convention

The tourism industry in Bali will conduct a big programme on 29 July, 2005, when the Bali Tourism Board (BTB) will hold its 1st convention since BTB was founded in 2002.

Equipped with enthusiasm, hard work, its concepts and a strong commitment to increasing the quality of people’s social life, BTB positions itself as an ongoing medium of communication, information, representation, and consultation for tourism in Bali.

At the present time, BTB is increasingly facing the various problems of tourism, government policy in the tourism sector and moving forward also to promote Bali as the most famous world destination. To manage tourism in Bali, BTB cooperate with government and sees its self as a think-tank and partner to the government.

In future, according to the chairman of BTB, Putu Agus Antara, through the government to private sector joint cooperation, BTB expects to be a government partner in supporting all government programs in tourism and especially in the three following:

  1. Taking care of the consolidation of tourism stakeholders
  2. Taking care of and increasing the quality of tourism ‘product’ and at the same time promoting Bali as a professional tourism destination
  3. Marketing, promoting and communicating Bali as an internationally-rated destination. BTB is a professional independent organization, which until now includes at least 9 industry and professional associations in tourism, they are:
  • PHRI (Indonesia Hotel and Restaurant Association)
  • ASITA (Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies)
  • PAWIBA (Association for Tourist Transport in Bali)
  • HPI (Indonesian Guide Association)
  • SIPCO (Society of Indonesian Professional Convention Organizers)
  • PUTRI (Indonesia Tourist Object Association)
  • GAHAWISRI (Marine Tourism Association)
  • PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) Bali and Nusa Tenggara chapter
  • Bali Village (Tourism Marketing and Promotion Association)

BTB stakeholders are expected to increase in the near future time, to encompass all associations, organizations or any related institutions involved directly and also indirectly with tourism. The 1st Convention of BTB will take place at Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Kuta – Bali with the theme:

‘REALIZING THE PARTNERSHIP STRATEGY BETWEEN GOVERNMENT, PRIVATE SECTOR AND SOCIETY; REACHING SUSTAINABLE TOURISM’
